Love Conquers All

This past Sunday, Father's Day, I had the privilege of speaking at our church. I spoke on something that I have been thinking about a lot lately, the thought that "Love Conquers All."

I talked a little about the YWAM podcast that mentions an ISIS fighter wanting to give up the horrible acts of evil he was doing and wanting to become a follower of Christ. We took some time to pray for the people from Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, who despite all the pain and hurt that is in their life right now,  were capable of saying "We extend love and forgiveness so that hate will not win!"

"34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Hope Eternal Clothing

In 2005 I had the privilege to travel to Tanzania. It was an amazing time! We got to travel all over the country. We got to meet amazing people, that even though they had very little they were some of the most hospitable, caring, generous people I've ever met.

While I was there we worked at an orphanage that told us how so many kids get sick and end up dying because they can't afford the $2 malaria pills. This broke my heart, something for cost of a cup of coffee can save a kids life.

I came home and came up with the idea to start Hope Eternal Clothing, you can see our website here. You can also like Hope Eternal on facebook right here. The idea was that when someone purchases a shirt, profit from the shirt would go towards providing medicine, food, clothing and shelter for those in need around the world.

I'm excited for our newest shirt. It's called Person Not Product and one of our good friends that is working in the Red Light district of Bangkok did the artwork for us.

We look forward to some new designs coming out this year. Here is a video from Love 146 that really helped inspire this shirt!

We Were Made To Create!

I love taking pictures. I find I don't take my real camera out with me as much anymore. I usually just bust my phone out and take some pictures with it. My camera is bulky. I find joy in taking pictures of the things I see. I love that my kids are picking up that some heart for creativity as well. My oldest son loves taking pictures.

I was made to create things, and I need to remember that. I need to remember that I can take time to be with Jesus while I take pictures.

I saw something the other day, it said "Anything that excites me for any reason, I will photograph; not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual."

Here are couple of photos I've taken that I thought I would share with you. What's something that you can do this week, something that God created you to do that you have been saying you don't have the time for.

Come Away

I am always going, I find that I am always running from one thing to the next. That life gets ridiculously busy. I need to remember to stop and breath sometimes and enjoy what's around me.

I took some time to take a walk with my daughter this week. This is one of my favorite spots to sit and watch the waves crash onto shore.

Take some time take a breath today and let God speak to you in the still quietness, even if it's only for a minute.

Here is a little video for you as well.

Missions Mobile...

Yup - it’s that time! With 3 kids in the car, things are getting awfully tight in our Honda Wagon! While Eisley is still peacefully residing in Lori’s belly, any day she will be out and we will be cramming her infant seat in-between the boys booster seats in the back. Don’t even get us started on how traveling will work with these 3 kiddos! We overflow the car with just the boys as it is, not sure how we’re going to add the baby’s stuff to the mix when it’s time to go up to Oregon this summer - camping no less! This is why a larger vehicle has become necessary for the Barrow Bunch.

We have been looking at different vans, and the Honda Odyssey and the Kia Sedona are our two top picks. We’ve found a couple of each that could be wit
hin a good price range for us, so now we just need the remaining funds to make a deal! So far we have been able to save up about $5180 with our tax return and some generous gifts, and our goal is to raise almost $5000 more! We hope to be able to sell our other car, the Dodge Neon, for a couple thousand, but there is some work we need to do on it before we can proceed with that. Hopefully we can get that in the shop next week and have it sold before we know it!

This is where you all come in! We need to raise the rest of these finances to be able to purchase this van as soon as we can for ease and less frustration for Lori wrestling with car seats! :) Please consider donating to our van fund and thanks to all who have already!

If you would like to donate towards our van. We would really appreciate it, and all donations are tax deductible.

Missions Monday

Last week was crazy busy for me. I got to work in Eli's school two days last week and Lori was teaching in our YWAM Pismo Beach DTS. So last week I missed my Music Monday blogpost. But 6 out of 7 weeks isn't that bad. This week though, I thought I would switch it up and post a video that I saw on the YWAM facebook page.

We spent part of our morning praying for the countries in North Africa that God would use these times to bring more people into relationship with him through Jesus. We prayed this portion of Psalm 72 from The Message;

Because he rescues the poor at the first sign of need,
the destitute who have run out of luck.
He opens a place in his heart for the down-and-out,
he restores the wretched of the earth.
He frees them from tyranny and torture—
when they bleed, he bleeds;
when they die, he dies.

Please continue to pray for the people of Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan and the surrounding areas.
